Brian O’Neill, MD, PhD
Associate Professor
Biography
Dr. O’Neill’s research focuses on the influences of signaling by the skeletal muscle insulin receptor (IR) and IGF-1 receptor (IGFR) on whole-body glucose metabolism and insulin resistance. He also studies metabolic pathways that are perturbed in states of insulin deficiency and insulin resistance, with a focus on mitochondrial involvement. These areas are highly relevant to CFRD pathogenesis.
