Matthew Potthoff, PhD

Professor
Biography

Dr. Potthoff’s research is focused on the physiologic mechanisms underlying hepatic glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity. He is particularly interested in the involvement of FGF21, which is produced by the acinar cells and is one of the first hormones whose levels decline during destruction of the exocrine pancreas in CF ferrets. Dr. Potthoff brings considerable expertise on mechanisms of pathogenesis in CFRD and pathways that alter glucose metabolism in CF ferret and pig models.
