Dr. Liu's research focuses on lung stem-cell biology and gene therapy for Cystic Fibrosis and alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency lung diseases, using novel mouse and ferret models. He is collaborating with Dr. Engelhardt in stem cell biology and gene therapy for CF disease, and Dr. Flotte in generating a novel conditional humanized alpha-1 antitrypsin ferret model. He is also collaborating with Arcturus Therapeutics and Feldan Therapeutics in testing mRNA therapy and genome editing approaches for CF lung disease treatments, respectively.
